Nashville man facing 13th drunk driving charge

Driving under the influence is a serious offense in the state of Tennessee. There are penalties associated with drunk driving charges that range from loss of license and fines to time in jail or prison. The consequences become even more severe if someone is determined to be a repeat offender. A Nashville man was recently arrested for the 13th time on DUI charges.

According to police reports, a man driving a car rear-ended another vehicle at an intersection. The driver of the car that was struck was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injury. Officers claim that they smelled alcohol on the man who had hit the other driver. The man supposedly had difficulty talking and standing properly.

The man reportedly told police that he had been drinking and smoking marijuana while fishing nearby. A partially smoked marijuana joint was allegedly discovered on the man. After a license check, it was determined that the man's license had been revoked. Bottles of brandy were purportedly found on the passenger side of the vehicle.

The driver was charged with an open container violation and possession of a controlled substance. He was further charged with a habitual offender violation. There was also a charge of DUI-6th offense or more.
