If police arrest you on one of these offenses, you will face a felony, although the level of felony depends on the amount of the drug involved and its classification, or schedule.
For example, possession with the intent to sell a Schedule I drug, such as heroin, is a class B felony, punishable by up to a $100,000 fine and eight to 30 years in jail. However, if the same offense involves 15 grams or more of heroin, the charge increases to a class B felony.
Similarly, if the alleged crime involves less than .5 grams of cocaine or methamphetamine ― Schedule II drugs ― it is considered a class C felony, and rises to a class B felony if more than .5 grams is involved.
