Man arrested on drug charges following search of home

Several counties in Tennessee have reported that drug trafficking is a significant problem in their respective areas. Many local law enforcement agencies routinely work with various task forces and other regional groups to combat the issue. As the groups work together, more arrests are being made throughout the state. An arrest for drug charges in Tennessee can have a long-lasting effect on someone's life. Two Decatur County men were recently arrested for alleged drug-related activities following the search of a home.

The Decatur County Sheriff's Department reported that a search warrant had been issued for a residence outside Decaturville. Upon the search, officers apparently found marijuana, methamphetamine and an unspecified amount of cash. The homeowner, a 33-year-old man, was arrested, as well as a 27-year-old man who was also in the house at the time.

The homeowner faces charges of drug possession and manufacturing. Police officers also took three vehicles from his residence. He faces charges of violating a drug-free school zone because of the proximity of his home to Decatur County Middle School.

The other man found in the house was arrested for an unrelated incident in another county. Both men are being held at the Decatur County Detention Center, according to reports. Additional charges are possible as the investigation of the incident continues.

Anyone facing drug charges in Tennessee should take them very seriously. The penalties could range from fines to a significant time in jail, if convicted.
