Former manager charged with theft and property crimes

The woman, the former manager of the Coffee County Conference Center, reportedly stole more than $30,000 from the center over a 15-month timeframe. According to records, the woman has been charged with two counts of official misconduct as well as theft of property over $10,000. Her arrest reportedly occurred in another state, when police officers had questioned her at a traffic stop.

The Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasurer claimed the woman made personal purchases by using the center's credit and debit cards. The money was apparently used to purchase clothing, a vacation and electronics. Reports allege that the woman took money from the center's bank account and received other payments she shouldn't have.

The comptroller's office said that the woman modified or deleted information in financial statements, attempting to hide the suspected activity. The woman allegedly told investigators that she was angry for her treatment and lack of support from the county's Public Building Authority. These situations had supposedly motivated her to take the money.
