Man and woman arrested for drug charges in Nashville

Possession of drugs is a serious offense in the state of Tennessee. Penalties for possession may range from fines to significant time in jail or prison. Nashville police officers reportedly arrested two people on drug charges and other offenses.

Arrest records show that police saw a man driving a car without a seat belt. The man was following another car, according to Nashville Metro Police. When both cars parked at an apartment, police conducted a traffic stop. After searching the man's vehicle, officers allegedly found 30 grams of marijuana, two loaded handguns, over $1,000 in cash and a key fob to the car he was following.

According to reports, the police then searched the other vehicle, driven by the man's girlfriend. In their search, police reportedly discovered 28 pounds of marijuana, four firearms and over $22,000 in cash. Tennessee state records showed that one of the firearms was reported as stolen. The woman's young child was allegedly in the car where the items were discovered. A family member has the child following the incident.

The man, who was purportedly the father of the child in the car, was driving on a revoke driver's license. Both the man and the woman were arrested on theft, marijuana possession and firearm possession charges. They were booked into the Davidson County Jail.
