Traffic stop results in drug charges for 2 in Clarksville

Traffic stops are frequently conducted by police officers across the state of Tennessee. Police often discover routine driving violations. However, two people face drug charges after officers seized several items during a recent traffic stop in Clarksville.

A 46-year-old man was stopped at a traffic stop. According to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, the man sped away before later being spotted by another officer. Another traffic stop was made where the man's vehicle was searched. Reports claim that some bags allegedly thrown from the car were searched also.

Police stated that numerous items were found in the search, including 1 pound of methamphetamine, 1 pound of crack and power cocaine and almost 7 grams of marijuana. In addition, police purportedly found Oxycodone pills, Amoxicillin pills, Lorazepam chills, Hydrocodone pills and Cialis pills. Additional items, such as scales, cell phones, some cash and a firearm were said to have been found in the search.

The man and a 23-year-old female passenger in the vehicle were taken into custody, according to officers. The man faces three drug charges and two weapons charges. He also faces charges of belong evading, reckless endangerment, unlawful drug paraphernalia and tampering with evidence. The woman faces multiple drug charges as well as possession of a firearm.
