Nashville man faces drunk driving charges after hit-and-run crash

Getting behind the wheel of a car after having a few drinks is never a wise decision in Tennessee or anywhere around the country. The consequences are more serious if someone driving under the influence is involved in a fatal crash. A Nashville man is facing numerous charges after a recent accident, according to authorities.

Nashville Metro Police report that a 60-year-old man and a 67-year-old man were riding their motorcycles on a city street. A 28-year-old man was traveling from the opposite direction in his car. The car hit the motorcycles head-on, according to police. Witnesses to the accident allegedly claimed that the driver and his 18-year-old passenger got out of the car. While the passenger remained at the scene, witnesses report that the driver fled to a nearby neighborhood.

One motorcycle rider was pronounced dead at the scene and the other was transported to a local medical center, where he remains hospitalized. The passenger of the car was treated at the hospital for minor injuries. The driver was reportedly found at a relative's home by the Nashville police. Officers suspected that the man was intoxicated when they located him, according to reports.

The driver has been charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication, per reports from the Metro police. Additional charges include vehicular assault and leaving the scene of a fatal crash. Evidence of drug and alcohol use were discovered in his vehicle, according to officers.
