4 charged with Nashville area theft and property crimes

Stealing something in the state of Tennessee can lead to some serious consequences. Penalties for various theft and property crimes can range from fines to a significant amount of time in jail. Four people were recently arrested after stolen items were allegedly discovered outside Nashville.

A woman was shopping in a Brentwood Target store last month when she reported that her purse had been stolen. She tracked the usage of her credit card, which had been in her purse. In addition, the security officer in Target had called area police departments to make them aware of the theft. The Franklin Police Department put additional officers on patrol in the surrounding areas. According to reports, the four individuals were discovered eating at a restaurant at a nearby mall.

Upon searching the suspects' car, officials reportedly found purses from numerous states located along I-65. One of the purses contained a necklace, valued at $58,000. The necklace had been given to a woman by her husband, who had recently passed away.

A man from Vicksburg was charged with identify theft, resisting arrest and fraudulent use of a credit card. He was also held for unrelated charges by federal authorities. A Chicago man was charged as a felon in possession of a gun, fraudulent use of a credit card and identify theft. A Chicago woman faces charges of identity theft and fraudulent use of a credit card. Another woman from Chicago was charged with fraudulent use of a credit card, identity theft and tampering with evidence.

Charges stemming from theft and property crimes should be taken seriously. A Tennessee criminal defense attorney will work with those charged to mount a strong defense.
