2 facing drug charges following search of Sweetwater home

Police in Tennessee from various law enforcement agencies frequently join forces to work together. Officers often obtain search warrants when alleged drug activity is suspected at a residence. Recently, a search conducted at a home in Sweetwater led to the arrest of two men after drugs were reportedly discovered. The men now face various drug charges following the arrests.

According to narcotics agents from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, a resident was searched after a warrant had been obtained. The homeowner and two other people were in the house when police arrived. The officers stated that they found the three men in a room with what was thought to be marijuana and some digital scales.

In addition, a backpack with some cash in it was located. Supposedly, officers then discovered a cigar bag containing methamphetamine. The homeowner, a 33-year-old man, was read his rights. At this point, he evidently told the police that the cash and marijuana were his; however, he stated that the meth did not belong to him. He now faces charges of possession of meth for resale, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana for resale.

Another person in the house, a 59-year-old man, was said to have had meth in his wallet. Officers suspected that digital scales and plastic baggies found in the search belonged to this man since they were located in a room with mail addressed to him. The man has been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of meth for resale.

Facing drug charges in the state of Tennessee is a serious matter. If convicted, someone could be required to pay exorbitant fines or spend a significant amount of time in jail.
